Marrakech

The souk of Marrakech must be one of the most fascinating shopping spots in the world, offering visitors a mind-boggling array of handicrafts, rugs, perfumes and spices, exotic fashions and fabrics.

There are bus tours to take you round the main sights; Place Jemaa el Fna with acrobats, snake-charmers and musicians, 18th-century Dar el-Beida Palace and the ruins of the El Badia palace.

Agadir

Agadir was rebuilt by the famous French architect Le Corbusier in the 1960's after the resort had been destroyed by an earthquake.

Agadir's popularity as a holiday resort is mainly due to its wide sandy bay and backdrop of snow-capped Atlas Mountains.

The tourist area of the town comprises a variety of international hotels discreetly blending into the environment of dunes and eucalyptus forests. Agadir offers luxury, tranquillity and mysticism.

Casablanca

Casablanca is the 2nd largest city in Africa.

It's the economic capital of the country with the most important port, commercial and industrial complexes. The high spots are the nearby Ain Diab Beach resort, a short taxi ride from the centre, the port, the aquarium, the medina and the central shopping area.

There's a small number of night clubs out on the beach at Ain Diab. There are also excellent international restaurants and a casino.

Fez

Fez is the oldest of Morocco's three imperial cities, founded in 790 BC. Medina is the main draw for tourists, the bustling city is one the best preserved Medieval cities in the world.

There is a very French flavour to Fez, especially in the more modern part of the city called Ville Nouvelle.

Visit the traditional tanneries and take a walk around the city walls. The Karaouine Mosque contains many holy relics but isn't accessible to non-Muslims.
