The coast around Ayia Napa has silver sandy beaches and these beaches are the most popular with tourists. The beaches are great all around the island. Try the beaches around Lefke and Kyrenia, they are great for surfing, parascending and diving.
Do go and see Aphrodite's Rock - this is where the goddess is supposed to have been born. It is only 6 miles from Kouklia.
The capital Nicosia is the only divided capital in the world. It is home to the island's Archeological Museuem - and excellent shops. In the Laiki Yitonia area (built in the 19th Century) there are lots of street tavernas and craft shops to explore.
Larnaka has a large harbour and marina with tavernas dotted along the seafront promenade. A historic mosque sits in decorative gardens on the edge of the Larnaka Salt Lake. The lake is dry in the summer and home to flamingos in the winter.
Head up the pine-clad Troodos mountains, dotted with small villages to cool down after hot days on the beach. A trip up the mountains is an absolute must because of stunning views of the island that can be seen from there. Kykko in the Troodo mountains, is the largest monastery in Cyprus and one of the most famous Orthodox religious sites. It was built in the 11th century, has colourful frescos covering its walls and holds important religious icons.
Ayia Napa is rightly famous for its club scene, it lasts all year with the main season running from June to September.
The main clubs and pubs can be found around the main square and have regular guest spots from big names like Paul Oakenfold and the Ministry of Sound. Combine sunbathing and clubbing on the Nissi Beach - there is music playing there throughout the day. The town also has a good reputation for being clean and drug-free.
